SCANNERS
Somewhere in the a.m. David Forbes & Mallorca Lee decided to get together and work on some music that they had been talking about for years. In the smokey haze of the Snake Pit, the studio complex they both used,"Psychic Gymnasium" was realised.
Mallorca - "We wanted to fuse the emotions of trance with the serious intentions you find in progressive house."
David - "Both of us wanted to spend time to experiment and create our own soundscapes without being rushed by deadlines."
Both Lee and Forbes had known each other from back in the turbo charged day's of the Scottish rave scene, where both learned their trade long before red bull was discovered. David was DJ'ing at the now infamous Hanger 13 Club in Ayr, Scotland. While Mallorca was touring with Rodger Hughes in their band Ultra-Sonic. Having mutual respect for each other's "skills to pay the bills" they kept an eye on each other's progress.
In 1996 Mallorca heard a track called "Pressure" by Propulsion, released on Limbo Peaking, a sister label of the much respected Scottish dance label Limbo Records. After finding out it was Forbes behind the track, Lee called him up and asked him if he would like to remix an Ultra-Sonic track for there own label USR (Ultra-Sonic-Recordings). From there David was invited to join the crew on the few but frantic "Research" tour nights along with Ultra-Sonic, Commander Tom, David Forbes (Propulsion) and Kevin "Dinero" from Hook Recordings to name but a few. Paving the way for "trance" music in the predominantly Scottish "hardcore" dance scene.
David moved his studio into the U.S.R. complex in 1997 and cracked on writing numerous floor fillers for labels such as Noom Records, Eve / Telika Records, Slinky and Limbo to name but a few. While Lee focused on Bikini State, a fusion of dance, rock and hip-hop. It was not until 1999 that they had the chance to work together.
Scanners is supported and played out by the DJ elite, Pete Tong, Satioshi Tomeii, Antonny Pappa, Gordon Kaye & Jo Mills to name but a few. "Super Highy-way" is also included on the forthcoming Pasha compilation album released on Blancoynegro.
The boys continue writing / remixing Scanners material in the Snake Pit, only when the green fogs fall's
